I will probably sleep well tonight...

Monday, January 07, 2013

I don't sleep well unless I am in my own bed with the dog curled up on my stomach or at my feet, so the trip to Ithaca knocked me out of my rhythm. It usually takes me a couple of days to get back into my routine, but I KILLED my workouts today, so I will probably fall asleep early and sleep soundly. 400 fitness minutes today. Taking the weekend to rest had me ready to go today. What those 400 minutes consisted of was 10.8 miles walking (9.3 with Cooper), 130 jumping jacks, 45 leg lifts and bridges, the challenge video of the day x2, and a workout at the gym... where I ran 3.1 miles (Day 2 of the 5k running training program), did most of my new ST workout with various weight dumbbells and a variety of machines. Whew! Now I need to rest. So, I will almost definitely sleep well tonight! Tomorrow I am going to take it much easier. I am not aiming for a rest day, but definitely a low key day as far as fitness goes.

I have been just under my calorie range for the past two days, so maybe that will make up for the overeating on Saturday. I need to be more consistent about eating a high protein snack after one of my intense workouts. Sometimes I completely forget about a snack by the time I have walked home from the gym. I did that (forgot) today. Oops.

Wow!You are making me tired. Did all of the exercise and walking take all day? I am very impressed with all the exercise you do.

Great job on the workout! Not sure if you have a place to keep anything cool when you go to the gym but a protein shake might be a good choice. Or even the ones that are powder and you just add to some water. I see people doing that all the time at the gym. I'm only a few minutes away and usually eat something shortly after getting back. Hope you are having a good day.

The Hubster tells me that low-fat chocolate milk is an excellent snack after an intense workout - quick carbs, protein and hydration.

Sleep well.

Okay, I've been impressed by all your walking with the pooch. Have you just become enchanted with working out now through Spark People, or have you been like this all you life? I started the January Fitness Jumpstart today. I had already walked 2 miles as part of my normal pattern. I just about died doing yesterday's video, and today's. Just a total of 17 video minutes. But I wouldn't say I KILLED anything. And while I'm pleased I was able to do any of it, I just don't think I'll ever get excited about it the way you are. Is there a secret I should know about that might help me--with the workout end of things?
