Long Overdue Blog!!

Monday, January 07, 2013

Well it is about time that I actually wrote a blog! Seems like such a long time since I did and am overdue to report on how I did with my 2012 goals!

I do have a valid and legitimate excuse for the month of December up to Friday December 21. I had started a new part time job and for the entire month of December before Christmas Break I was working 2 jobs! Talk about a crazy life those 3+ weeks!!!! My life consisted of up at 4:30 am, work out, get ready for work off to the University, by 8 am and there until 3:55. Fly out of there inb tim to get the 4 pm shuttle back to the lot hop in car and fly to other job all the way across town to start at 4:30 til 7:30. Home by 8 pm eat, make lunch and snacks to tide me over til 8 pm dinner. Fall into bed! Back up and start all over again. I did this Mon-Thurs then Fridays was "supposed" to be 1/2 day at new job in the Engineering firm which generally turned out to be the full day and even one was until 6:30 at night. I get tired just thinking of it and don;t know how I managed to survive that 3 weeks without going batty!

Anyway long story short the Engineering firm (new Part time job) I was offered full time to start January 7, 2013. More hours/week than at University Job (an extra hour each day Mon.-Thurs and "supposed" to be half day Friday which I suspect will be more than half day some weeks. Also Pays $2/hr more than University plus full benefits and no cost for parking to boot! Although I will not make as much as I was making working both jobs (although it is very close when you figure parking fees saved and cost of health benefits) I couldn't afford to not accept the offer and leave the University. I wil have a much more leisurely life than the 3 weeks of December with a nice break of close to 2 weeks over Christmas/New Years.

Fast forward to today now the Holidays are done, my close to 2 week break is done and I have my first day of my new full time job under my belt! Now it is time to get back on track and finally hit that goal weight!

I did actually manage to come within 1/2 pound of my goal weight before the stress of 2 jobs and Holiday Festivities hit at pretty much the same time. Dec 7 I actually hit 130.5 lbs. Weight has been kind of yo-yo since then with a gradual creep up along the way emoticon A combination of not enough time to plan meals properly, not enough time to do extra work outs beyond my morning cardio & weights, too much rich holiday food and family dinners all followed by close to 2 weeks of not working and needing to recharge. Oh well , I almost made it to my goal of 130 which I am still very proud of! Another thing which I have accomplished is quitting smoking. As of today I am over 10 weeks smoke free! I am over a week off the patch now and so far so good. I figure that the typical metabolism slow down from butting out has helped me to gain back those close to 3 lbs since Dec 7 as well!

So enough of this excuses!!! Time to buckle back down and get that 3.3 pounds gone! I hope that I can manage that by the end of January 2013!

Three more weeks in the month and I think you will do great. My husband works 12 hour shifts so I understand the working aspect.
