Day 6 & 7

Monday, January 07, 2013

Yesterday I got sucked into Biggest Loser and forgot to blog LOL. I did pretty well with food since we ate out for lunch at McDonald's. Grilled chicken sandwich plain, small fries and an ice tea :) Could have left the fries but they were actually hot so I couldn't pass up a once and a lifetime event LOL. I ran my first day of c25k today and finished the mile at 19 minutes, less than the last time I ran so not so bad there! Hoping to hit the mile mark at 17 minutes by next week and make my way down little by little. It is Cardio day for me, I drew a my dancing popsicle so I hooked up my ipod and got my kids involved in some workout music dance party LOL. They loved it! It was funny watching them all excited and dancing all over, even got some strength training in cause both of the little ones wanted to be picked up and swung around LOL. Just a few minutes ago my oldest asked me when I was going to workout...HAHA cause he thought the 20 min. of dancing was just for fun. So proud of him, he worked out right beside me yesterday and today :) Now if I could just get his night snacking under control, he would be in great shape. Even filling the house with good choices he is begging for sweets or chips. Makes me feel horrible since before we decided to change our lives I would say yes and grab some for myself.

A word of advice. Don't worry about your time right now for your 5k training. Aim first for completion! Your speed doesn't matter. You won't be the first, and you won't be the last at your race, I promise!

It's important not to increase either mileage or time more than 10% per week. Doing too much too soon invites burnout and injury. :)

I'll be right there with you, as soon as this blasted ankle heals up!

Way to go on getting the kids involved! I'm a nanny for twins, almost a year, and I do dance parties with them a lot. At first I would leave them in their bouncers and dance and they would just laugh at me. Now I take turns holding and dancing with them...and they still laugh at me. But that's ok with me. :) I get my workout in and they seem to enjoy it too! The best dance so far is I did the Wobble and my little girl just laughed the entire time so I picked her up and repeated the song dancing the entire time holding her and she loved that even more...my arms didn't love it so much though! Lol
