Getting there

Monday, January 07, 2013

Hi! I hope everyone had a great weekend. Mine started off a little rocky, but got better.

Friday after I got home from work, my oldest son was not looking or feeling good after 2 full days with some sort of stomach bug (plus he had an ear infection but could not keep any anti-biotics down, so it wasn't being treated). I ended up taking him in to the night clinic at his doctor's office, and after losing 5 lbs. in 2 days, we were promptly sent to the ER for re-hydration and meds. Thankfully, he responded well, and we were able to go home at around 11:00 p.m. He slept through the night, was feeling much better by Saturday and completely normal yesterday. Yea! Here is my poor Brett mid-IV treatment:

Pretty much the only goal I had been reaching last week was drinking significantly more water than I had been. Here is a pic of my new 24 oz. MSU Tervis Tumbler filled and ready to take with me on errands this weekend - somehow fun containers make it easier to drink water (don't you think so?):

I got all crafty and my project of the weekend was a blanket for my younger son. I love the cute/funny dino fleece I found at JoAnn's! I was pleased about how it turned out.

And here is just a fun pic of my little guy using his older brother's drawing supplies from Sunday morning. He just plops himself down, opens up the notebook and starts "drawing" like a big boy!

So this week I am not weighing in. I will weigh in and record my weight next Monday, which will be my regular weekly weigh-in day. I did not do well with my food or exercise choices the past 5 days, so that is really my focus this week. So far so good today...and I haven't had a day yet on this recent "re-start" that I could say that, so I'm pretty proud of myself. My eating habits have been pretty awful for quite a few months, and it is hard to get out of the rut of those bad habits, but I'm getting there!

Hope your little one is feeling better!! Good job on the water! I really need to do better with my water intake as well...

I've been "off track" more than I've been on - so today is yet another day #1. Feels like deja vu!! :) We'll get there!

So glad your son is making a quick recovery. I'm sure you felt so helpless when you had to take him to the ER. That's the thing about being a parent. You can't separate "Mom" from "Anne" even though you know "Anne" needs as much attention as your son to get healthy and strong. You'll get there for sure :o) Keep hydrating!

Glad your son is feeling better!

It is definitely hard to get out of those ruts, but slow and steady!

I can't believe you have a State tumbler. Go Blue! emoticon

Glad to hear he is doing better. Hope now that things are slowing down and getting back to normal, you can re-focus on yourself.

Just take it one day or one meal at a time to get back on track. We are in a marathon not a race. All that is important is that you get back on track.

Glad your big little one is feeling better.

Glad to hear your son is feeling better and that you're staying on track.

I used to weigh in on Mondays but found the weekend to be my hardest days. So I weight in on Friday morning. That way I have all week to work off any excess I ate over the weekend. ;) Good luck this week!
