Exercise and memory

Interesting article on the possible relationship between exercise and memory:

can-jog-the-memory/

Not sure this can be wholly attributed to exercise (or the lack thereof), but I am wondering if this is at least partially why my 87yo, active father has an amazing memory given his age, but my 83yo sedentary mother is showing definite signs of demetia. Regardless, seems to me that there is more and more evidence that staying active will ensure a healthier and happier old age, and that's what I'm aiming for!
