I see so many other sparkers posting about going to the gym, but after calling around and looking at where the gyms were located (and going back over my fitness trackers!) I decided it's not for me.
I don't get in extra fitness when I have a gym membership, and from my notes and such I tend to miss the regularly scheduled classes and then skip the whole day. My work schedule is crazy, I have board meetings and volunteer commitments regularly through the week. And now I'll also have school!
Since January of last year, my mom and I have been taking Zumba classes together...and it's been nice, because I only pay for the classes I attend! But then, there were weeks I couldn't go at all...the classes were only Monday and Wednesday...and it was a Zumba gold class (perfect for Mom, NOT for me!) And in December, the teacher cancelled Monday classes. So now it's just Wednesdays, which works even less than the old schedule!
So I spent the money and bought the Zumba Exhilarate DVD set. It's substantially less expensive than just two months of gym dues or even Zumba classes (had they stayed at 2 days a week) and I'll be able to work out at my convenience, at home, whenever I want.
(And since my apartment has a gym with the machines, all I was missing were group classes. I already have yoga DVDs, bootcamp DVDs, stability ball, and resistance bands, so I would only have been paying for the Zumba classes!)
I think it's the right choice for me! Has anyone used these DVDs? Any tips?!
