On to 2013

I ended 2012 with a loss of 42 pounds. It felt great. Just the small changes made all of the difference. Now, it's time to change things up for 2013.

After a weekend long sickness that caused me to lose 5 pounds in two days, I am up 2 pounds from my lowest last year. This isn't bad. I'm still happy to have lost 42 pounds in less than six months. Now, however, I need to change what I've been doing if I can expect to lose more. My big thing is exercise. I started chasing my kids more, playing on the floor with my twins, and trying to find more reasons to stand than sit. These have helped. But now I know that I need to add in an exercise program so that I can maintain a healthy system as opposed to a weak system with less weight. It's time to talk to the trainer that my wife works with and get something put together. By biggest problem, as always, is going to be time. I leave for work at 6:30 and I'm not home until 5 most nights. By that time I want to play with my kids. When they go to bed, I'm ready for be myself most night. So I just need to figure out how to fit everything in. The trainer wants to work with me for the first couple of weeks. That's time away from my kids. But I also don't want to start a program that I can't maintain becaue I put myself into it too hard to begin with. It's probably a good thing that I've changed some of my goals to include better time management. Need to work on both.

    Congratulations on 42 lbs in 6 months. That's awesome!!!

I completely understand the difficulty in finding time for exercise while needing to spend time with the kids. I have the same troubles. For me my kids are all in middle and high school and they are all in multiple activities. My oldest isn't quite 16 yet so I am a constantly driving them from one place to the other and there is not a single free night a week. So my only options are working out in the morning, which doesn't work for me at all, or just be flexible and work out 10 minutes at a time.
