Sunday was a day of New to Me's!

So Sunday we had a lazy day around the house. We did pack up some of the Christmas stuff and ate from the pantry all day.
I made pancakes in the morning with a failed banana topping. The butter I used made it taste funny. I had added Penzey's baking spice to the pancake mix. We had some cheese, mashed avocado, and crackers for lunch. Dinner I threw together some leftover cooked shrimp, broccoli, veggie penne, and pesto sauce for dinner. It came out pretty good. The shrimp and the broccoli came from the little freezer so that is helping on my goal for the month to clean that out.
The veggie penne was new to us. It was pretty yummy but seemed to add a tomato flavor to the dish. DH didn't notice it. The other new to us food was a bread recipe I tried from a cookbook I picked up at the library. It is an Egg Bread recipe. DH liked it and I will be making the larger loaf recipe today or tomorrow. This will save us from having to buy bread this week. The third time I make the recipe I am going to try it with soy or almond milk and see how it goes. The recipe is from the Betty Crocker Bread Machine Cookbook. It was the first recipe that I have made for the bread machine for a fully cooked loaf that we both liked. Normally the bread seems to be very yeasty and this isn't that way.
Lastly we played a new to us game that we have had around the house for awhile. It is pretty easy and will be good for when we have kids over or just for a simple card game when others are around. It is called take the train and is a sequence game. It has a few tricks in it to keep the other players guessing and would go faster with more than 2 players. DH was disappointed that I won all 3 hands
Have a healthy week and take advantage of the New Year to try New things!
