I learned a wonderful lesson yesterday. Friday night I drove into work – 100 miles one way and that was fine. After work, I ran one errand and then picked up my Mom for dinner. We had a lovely dinner and visit and it was then time for me to drive back home which takes approx. 1 ½ hours. So I get home about 8:30 and am ready for bed. Then I get a phone call and before I know it, it is 10 pm and I need to get up at 4 am, which is only 6 hours of sleep. Normally this wouldn’t be so bad, but I was overly tired. The next day at work was horrible. I was tired, no energy, ate everything sight to stay awake, no motivation, etc, etc.
So while at work, I was emailing back and forth with another work at home co-worker and asked if she wanted to start a new goal for the next 21 days. Mine is to be in bed between 8/9 pm and to get 7-8 hours while she chose one that works better for her. If we are able to accomplish this 90% of the time between 1/5 & 1/26 we get a reward. Mine will be a new shower curtain for a bathroom that I will be re-doing¸ turning into my spa if you will.
I am realizing that this is a good foundation goal to build on. If I get enough sleep the rest of my health goals will be much easier to obtain. So yesterday I did go to bed at 8:30 and I had 7 hr 48 min of sleep per my fitbit. The day went much better and I am curious to see how things will go once this becomes consistent behavior.
Re: my spa bathroom, I have primer, paint, material to fix the hole in the wall, candles and lots of pampering stuff thanks to Walmart’s Christmas clearance. I am so looking forward to using this as a nice get away space!
Hope everyone has a good night! I am off to bed for another good night's sleep!
