It's been awhile, but I'm back!

Sunday, January 06, 2013

I note that the last time I blogged was September 30. That's a LONG time ago!, and my weight shows it.
I finished with the 30-day heart monitor on October 25, and met with the cardiologist on November 15, at which time I learned that THERE IS NOTHING WRONG WITH MY HEART and the "event" that occurred during my 24 hour heart monitoring was an "artifact". While it's good news that my heart is fine, I was kicked out of the gym for the entire time I had the heart monitor, and really got out of the exercise habit, and to deal with frustration that is normally controlled with exercise, I also ate like a crazy person. As a result, I gained 23 pounds in 3 months on top of the 25 pounds I'd gained since reaching my goal weight in June, 2011. So, last week I was at 188 pounds. I had a doctor's appointment (my annual physical) last week and fortunately I haven't had any major health consequences from the weight gain (yet...). I asked the doctor to help me with accountability to get me started, so I am going to meet with her monthly again like I did during my initial weight loss, and she wants to see my food and exercise log. So I've really worked the past week at getting back on track...and had a 5 pound weight loss. Also went to the gym twice. This week my goal is to track food and exercise, and get to the gym Monday through Saturday (yes, I got a doctor's note and get to go back!) I started logging my food and exercise at MyFitnessPal which I find a bit easier to use than SparkPeople's trackers. I'll continue to log my weight here, though, and also try to blog more regularly.
I did have a great winter break...just spent it mostly at home, de-cluttering. I cleaned out every drawer and cupboard, scrubbed the bathroom floors on my hands and knees, took several bags of clothes and linens to the Salvation Army, watched Downton Abbey seasons one and two, and went to four movies...two by myself and two with friends. I played with my animals, and read, and just relaxed. Bought a new iPad and am having fun with it, too. Today I am back at work, but the semester doesn't start until tomorrow, so it is QUIET!

Yay for your heart. That IS good news. And good for you for setting up some accountability measures. I know your weight will be back where you want it to be soon.

Glad to see your back, I know it can be discouraging but it's a relief to know that your heart is good; Also nice that your doctor is helping with accountability. Stay with those lifestyle changes!

It's great that you are being so honest with all that has happened and that your doctor is so willing to help you with accountability. Weird about the "artifact". Did they explain to you in plain english what that meant? emoticon Great that you've lost 5 lbs so soon! We start back at school tomorrow too. Hope you have a great day and looking forward to your blogs on how you are getting your weight back down. P.S. Also a Downton Abbey fan as well as Call the Midwife!
