A Goal to Reach by Spring

Today is day 9 of my streak!

I've decided to give myself a new mini goal! The first day of Spring (my favorite season) is 72 days away, so I'm choosing a goal that I want to reach by that time. I have a really cute Curves t shirt that is a size L, which is the size I wear now in t shirts. But this shirt seems to run small. I can get it on but its way too tight. So my goal is for it to fit me perfectly by the first day of Spring!

I actually won this shirt in a drawing back in 2008, when I was still a member of Curves, and I've never been able to wear it. Its just been hanging in the spare bedroom all this time, but I am determined to fit into it by the first day of Spring...even though I no longer go to Curves.

In order to reach this goal, I am going to keep doing what I've been doing...eating between 1200 and 1500 calories a day....REAL food, eliminating processed food as much as possible....and getting at least an hour of exercise a day. I've been doing Wii Zumba every morning and I'm getting a little better although I still look absolutely ridiculous, lol. In the afternoon, I do my strength training with My Fitness Coach for Wii, and in the evening I do DDP Yoga. I will also workout during TV commercials while watching the Biggest Loser this season! I have my aerobic step and I will do step ups during every commercial break. So wish me luck on fitting into that shirt by the first day of Spring!

Oh, a few days ago I blogged about my NSV's (non-scale victories) of 2012, but I forgot some so I will add them here.

I don't have to sit down to put my pants on. That might not seem like a big deal, but it is to me! I can put my pants on while standing up!

My purse strap fits over my shoulder now...even with my winter coat on!

When I sit on the couch, the cushions don't sink way down anymore. It feels like I'm sitting ON the couch now, not IN the couch. And I can get up from the couch easily, without having to hoist myself up.

I can get down on the floor for my workouts, and get back up again without having to pull myself up on the furniture.

I can easily reach to trim my toenails. (I used to have to do all kinds of straining and contortions to do that.)

The sides of the lawn chair don't squeeze my hips anymore.

I need to get smaller bras! Yes, thats a non-scale victory too!

Okay...there are 72 days until Spring! What goal would you like to reach by then?

Since it is now Feb 19th, I have exactly 4 weeks before the first day of Spring. My new mini goal is to lose 5 lbs between now and then. I currently work out 3 days a week on a regular basis, so I will have to increase that to working out 4-5 days per week. Then I really need to watch the foods that I eat. I will try to stay away from as many processed foods as possible.

Please wish me luck!!! emoticon

You've done great! I hope to be able to run a 5K by the end of Spring (something the doctors said I would never be able to do (run again) after severely breaking both bones in my right leg several years ago).

So happy for you! Congrats on your accomplishments! I'm training for my first half-marathon. Never ran more than a half-mile before last year and even that was when I was a little kid!

You are inspiring and this is an awesome blog thank you for sharing. I too have a Curves T-shirt that I cannot wear because its too tight. I think its a Valentines one I should hunt for it and hang it on my closet door along with a pair of jeans I like but are way too snug and I cant zip up. Maybe this will keep me motivated and I can try them on every so often just to see how far I've come :)

i just recently was able to fit into a keith richards tshirt i had purchased about 2 years ago, and its been hanging in my closet, unworn.
i can now wear it, a little snug, but it fits and it was a victory
but its still hanging in the closet as ive had no place rock and roll enough in my life to wear it
good luck on the goal

I have a pair of jeans that I absolutely love and cannot wear. My goal will be to get into those jeans. Because of your inspiration I am going home tonight and hang them on my closet door so that I see them every day. Thanks.

Loved the blog. Loved what you have accomplished. Made me think . I used to not be able to tie my shoes , I had to get my granddaughter to buckle my sandals and toe nails took forever. I often thought of my mother , I had to do this for her. Then she got sick and lost weight, then she was still unable because of illness. I found myself saying I know how my mother felt. I promised her before she died that I would do something about my weight here I am. Carrying around 50 extra pounds is hard , and I have lost 10 and it makes a differences . I look at your victories and I count mine. The small ones adds up. Thank you. That is the way we should count it. Keep going I know you will make your goal. emoticon emoticon

We don't have four seasons here so I always confuse when exactly is Spring and other seasons. But if Spring is sometime around end of first quarter yearly, I would say, for this year, I want to get the recipe of balancing my meals and consistent exercises which I didn't get last year!
