Green Juice

Sunday, January 06, 2013

I have been reading and talking to people about green juice and how it gives you more energy etc. I decided to try it this morning. I stuck 5 leaves of kale, a handful of spinach, 1 apple, juice of 1/2 lemon, 2 celery stalks and a carrot ( all organic)into my blender with about 1 cup of water. It made about a pint of green juice after being strained. It was fresh tasting and not unpleasant, but after drinking the first time, I did have some nausea, which I understand might happen if you are not used to this. The only problem I have with this is what to eat the rest of the day and what is a good plan for juicing and eating whole foods? I am not ready to turn vegan or vegetarian. Any advice?

Stick with just eating healthy and leave the junk alone with minimal treats.

Juicing is great to add to your diet (as replacement meals) or doing juice fast (sometimes called juice feasts). I'm preparing to get a juicer around tax time. I was super inspired by the movie "Fat, Sick and Nearly Dead" how a man changed his health and weight through juicing and birthed an entire movement. I saw it on Netflix but you can also watch it for free on Hulu. Here's the link:

I've been collecting lots of juicing recipes and info on juicing and detox. Here is my Pinterest board if you'd like to take a look:

Wishing you the best of success. It's a tasty adventure, and your body will thank you for it!

I agree with the others. Breakfast smoothie and healthy chewing meals for the rest.

that sounds to me like it would be very healthy, for a fast breakfast or snack, so I can not imagine living on that alone, but I would think you would just eat normally the rest of the day, I need to chew something or I just do not get satisfied. emoticon
