YUCK

Saturday, January 05, 2013

being a good Sumaritan today, I went to my Mom's and thought I was going to help with the gardening but noooooooo, instead she put me on a job I absolutely HATE. She made me clean the stove, to preface this, she had baked a berry pie and while taking it out of the oven, it toppled and splattered all over the inside and on the door and down between the door and chassis making just a huge mess. She had already tried cleaning by spraying oven cleaner and letting it sit overnight, but the glue and black crusty stuff was not budging. Hubby had to dismantle part of the oven and the door so I could get to the stuff lodged between things. It took me 5 hours to scrape clean rub polish etc. to get it back in shape, and oh the things underneath the stove you usually don't see...yuck. But it's done now and as she doesn't bake much anymore it should stay clean for a long time. And she had me empty all the trash cans too geesh what a slave driver...just kidding I love my Mom and would do anything for her.
but now I'm sore and tired and squatting and bending has done my back in, since it's supposed to rain tomorrow I"m gonna relax and watch movies

Topical subject Buteafull. Our oven also needs cleaning. Wife has had hand surgery. My son cooked some things and left the mess in there. Bought some stuff suitable at the market. Don't know however if I will invest 5 hours to clean or to dismantle the moveable parts to get access. What's a poor mother to do?

I truly know what you're talking about - I recently did the "stove cleaning" at my mom's! It took me about 5 hours, too.

Wow you are a good daughter! Cleaning the stove is the absolute worst....how sweet of you to do all that hard work for her. I am sure she appreciates it too!

We are supposed to get rain tomorrow too. I hope you get to relax all day!
