I Got the Job!

Saturday, January 05, 2013

So I start Jan 14th, full-time with full benefits, in training for five weeks and then working the late and weekend shift (10am-7:30 and 8am-5pm) in some combination five days a week. I'll have two days off in a row every week, but no idea where to expect them to fall, at least with the almost guaranteed weekend shifts, I can be reasonably sure I won't be fighting ll the other working parents at Costco, and I'll still be able to get Dr, visits in on those weekdays off for the foreseeable future (first shift-bid is in March, which I won't have much opportunity to fight up the ladder for, the next one isn't until September, so at least until September sometime).

I actually think this might HELP in my food management, since I am TERRIBLE at planning food ahead, and I will HAVE TO eat a decent breakfast before leaving for the day (which is actually manageable if I'm leaving the house around 9-9:15 am) and packing a lunch, because there's no cafeteria on the premises and for the first several weeks at least, I'll be stranded without a car to go get in trouble for "lunch".

I had a mini panic attack this morning when I realized that all of my office-appropriate clothes are now between two and four sizes too big! And payday for my hubby will be on the 11th, which doesn't leave me enough time to order stuff online and have it get here in time... All of a sudden, the "stretchy pants plan" I had to cruise through to One-Derland was looking inadequate!

And then I went to my friend's house to help her get her house in order for when her hubby comes home from the hospital, and project number 1 was rearranging the racking in her closet to move everything UP several notches, and wouldn't you know it, she had several pairs of totally appropriate pants that fit me and are too big for her now! This is the same friend who got me the interview in the first place, so I was also able to grill her on the dress code... Aaaaah, God is GOOD.

AND the SCALE MOVED this morning! Two whole pounds, in the RIGHT direction! FINALLY!!! 223.0 as of this morning, so I am now left with 23.1 lbs to lose in 43 days if I'm going to reach One-Derland before my birthday. I dunno how reasonable that is, but I'm going to keep the goal there until I either hit it or miss it, and take it from there.

Congrats on the weight loss, the job, and on scoring some free clothes! What an exciting time for you :) I know the routine of a workday really helps me stick to my planned meals!
