I thought I was going to be able to run outside this afternoon after work, but a friend invited me to go to a basketball game with her, and I know it will be dark when I get home, so I knew I had to get to the gym this morning before work. My gym has kind of limited weekend hours: on Saturday they're open from 8-5. Since I work 9-2 and the game is at 2, my only option was to go right when they opened at 8. So that's what I did. Last night I packed both my breakfast and lunch for today (I don't like to workout on a full stomach), and a bag with a change of clothes. As I've mentioned before my calorie goals are really high right now because I'm exercising so much so I brought a lot of food with me - two meals and snacks for my 5 hour day at work made me look like I was bringing a picnic into work. I was laughing at myself.

I've noticed the last couple of days how good I feel. The first few days of Janathon were rough. But right now, at least, I feel so energized and upbeat. I feel like I sleep better at night, and I might have a better sleep schedule. They always talk about the "unexpected" benefits of exercise, like better sleep and more energy. I can't speak for anyone else, but I didn't really "get it" until I experienced it for myself. I do have more energy during the day. I feel happier, which is great because toward the end of the year I was really in a funk. I just really feel like I'm doing my body good. I'm making positive changes in my life. Even when I'm sore or the running hurts, I know that I'm doing good things for my body. The soreness is me getting stronger. Every day when I go just a little bit further, I'm making my life that much better and getting that much healthier.

So far, Janathon is a success!

    Hey good for you for being able to adjust your plans and still get a workout in. I'm terrible with time management. I can't wait till I have more energy and sleep better again.
