day 5 ( Sat) please let me know how you are doing!

Saturday, January 05, 2013

Last time I cleaned up my diet, my husband commented how I looked younger!
I am noticing the same thing, the bags under the eyes and signs of fatigue are fading! Could this be evidence of the "stress" that sugar and white carbs/ wheat puts on my body. Not everyone is the same I know, but for me, I know I am better without those mentioned.

I am down to two coffee/espresso's a day....
I bought some unsweetened 100 % cocoa chocolate yesterday and had a square with a few dates. It is not possible to binge on that chocolate, it is strong and bitter! Just the way I love it!
Sometimes I eat it with a small handful of almonds too.
This helps me get through that " I NEED SOMETHING CHOCOLATEY" craving.

yesterday I unpacked my new food processor I got for Christmas, it is soooo nice!

I made my banana chocolate ice cream! YUM! ( no icecream maker required) - to be honest it is more like soft serve!

YUM!

SO HOW ARE YOU DOING ON DAY 5?

Yesterday the kids went sledding, it was a load of fun, we only stayed out for an hour, it was rather chilly at - 5 , but with the wind chill it felt like - 8 C

Please leave your comments on day 5 below! You are all doing so well! I am so impressed!

Hi everyone! Did fine during the wedding. Skipped the cupcakes and breads.
Had some peanut butter as a late snack and whole wheat crackers/ noodles. There are probably some white wheat in that but I kept away from the worst stuff.
My main problem is sugar. Going strong.

Exercised - snowmobiling and trudging through lots of snow! Great fun... will try to send you a pick of some of the great ice we saw. Ate well, but I blew my coffee - while we were out we stopped for beverages and they had NO teas that I like (I know a cop out) so I thought if I was going to be bad, I'd better be really bad and I had a French Vanilla cappuccino. However, I did only have one cup of caffeinated coffee and I did cut back on my pop a bit more so all in all I'm not unhappy. Do I buy you something since I blew my coffee commitment? I'm feeling rather generous today lol.

The only bad news is that I pulled my hamstring at the end of the day and I'm limping today. Hope it won't be too bad!

Kids are back at school tomorrow. Can not believe it! Have a great week all. CJ

P.S. Thanks for all the recipes. I can't wait to try them and they will make this challenge so much easier. No coffee today for me.... promise!

    Day 5

Kristin - Detroit, U.S.A. No bad white stuff - white sugar/white flour.

Last night I wanted sugar real bad. Instead I opted for a juicy orange and the craving went away:) Otherwise this sinus thing has kind of taken any desire to eat away. Difficult for me to eat when I can't smell anything:) I could go for some of that banana chocolate ice cream Mel!

For what it's worth, I have to admit - much as I love my coffee, I sleep much sounder when I have no more than two cups a day, and those early in the AM. After that I leave caffeine alone. I noticed the bags / circles under my eyes also improved. The other factor I ascribed it to? Watching my hydration. Once I made sure I was getting plenty of fluid intake throughout the day, not only did the dark circles fade, but my skin improved too. Surprising what a little H2O can do, lol!

Reveiw of day 5 - no everything, except dairy...Somehow it seems strange not to have feta cheese on a spinach salad, so I blew the no dairy bit, even if it was only 1 oz of goat cheese...
See my blog for pics :)

No hard cheese - mozzarella only
But ... Swiss student arrived with Lindt Chocolate for me ... well, I didn't pinky-swear off that, did I?
I've walked today though - 7kms and certainly feeling better- jeans are starting to be loose again

Have fun playing with you new food processor! Looking forward to pictures and recipes :)
I have more energy eating cleaner, still on 1 pot of caffeinated tea a day but switching to decaf in the afternoon. No longer tempted when I make DH's coffee - that's a good sign.
Have a fun weekend!
