It's a new day!

Saturday, January 05, 2013

First of all I want to thank you all so much for responding to yesterday's blog regarding the "pain and suffering" and how to put a price on it. Gosh you all had good advice. So DH and I met our attorney at "court" to review the case and most importantly the decision by the court that we were found innocent. It felt so good to just see the written decision. So we signed the decision to let the court know we were notified. Now we have to wait 5 days to see if the decision is appealed. In a normal situation we would be confident that nothing else can happen and there will be no appeal but I have learned not to get my expectations out of line as I have been disappointed before and caught off guard. And remember, we are dealing with a very corrupt system here and someone from the other side might decide to bribe the judge to create more problems for us but if this were to happen the case would automatically go to a higher court which we hear is not as corrupt as the judges there are paid more so they won't take bribes. If nothing else the whole thing is extremely interesting. I will keep you posted.
After going to court our attorney wanted to take us out to lunch to discuss the next step towards suing the creeps that did this to us. By the way, they are Gringos. They are from Portland, Oregon. Someone asked me where they were from. Keep in mind these are people that I believe just buy properties and "flip" them and do creepy things. If nothing else we would like to teach them a lesson.

We went to a restaurant that we had not tried before that the attorney liked. I ordered a Parm chicken sandwich. It really was dry with no sauce or anything.....so as I sat there I decided that I didn't want to "waste" eating calories that I didn't enjoy so I kind of pushed it around and ate some but took most home. I hate when that happens! But I am glad that I can the decision to no waste my calories on things I really don't enjoy if I am in a position where I can control it. But I did enjoy two of my Negro Modelo beers so it made it worth it! Just love that rich beer.

Today we are supposed to go out and eat again tonight with neighbors and friends. I would prefer to stay home and eat in but my DH wants to go.....so off I go. At least tomorrow I know we can eat at home as we will want to watch the Seahawks in the playoffs. Anyone out there watching a particular team that you want to go to the Superbowl? I admit I love my football. I am interested to see who the Eagles bring on for their new coach. I do hope it's someone I like.

Thanks again dear sparks buddies for all your on going support.
Many hugs and make it a great day.
Sallie

Amazing how many times you face temptation... and wonderful how you manage to avoid it, too!

Leftovers from restaurants and other places: I've taken dry chicken (and other meats) home from restaurants, tossed them into a pan with a pile of veggies, tomatoes (diced), a bit of water or broth... let them sit... and voila: easy meal from once-not-perfect leftovers. Even good foods taken home benefit from it... and are low in cals, high in nutrients.

Have a lovely (albeit half-over) weekend, Sallie!

Sallie you are the only one I know that goes out to eat a lot & you still keep your girlish figure. That is because you are so disciplined in what you eat, & how you take control the next day. I do not think there are many people that can do that. Thank you for the sp goodie ( take care )

That is very admirable restraint to take the food home that wasn't worth the calories. Does DH eat it or a pet? Hope you weren't too hungry. I know excessive hunger can be a trigger for me to engage in eating behavior I don't want. Can't wait for that 5 day limit to be over re: appeal. If I'm feeling like that, how must you feel? Take care, Sallie. Hope you enjoy your social time. I'm lucky that most of my social time is drinking coffee with my running buddies after a run and feeding extended family, and then I get to set the menu!! Truly, we should probably do more socializing, but DH isn't into it. Wishing you another great day!!! -Marsha

OMG! I hate seeing Portland associated with such hateful people. I hope I don't know them. Have fun with your friends this evening. I also like football and was thrilled to see U of O win their bowl game. I'm anxious to hear what Chip Kelly decides to do. I'll be watching Seattle tomorrow also.

I love football too. This year as we are chiefs fans was not good. My dh had a bad anxiety attact after watching them this year so it has be taboo for a while. :( Good news is chiefs has a new gm and maybe that will change our team. Thanks for posting with me. I am glad to hear so far so good. Prayers.

Good decision taking home the food that wasn't worth the calories... the beers alone are good for a meal! DH sometimes has the Negro Modelo, very nice but I'm not a beer drinker. On a really hot day I may half a bottle of XX by which time it has become warm...

Glad to hear that you were able to take home the food you did not enjoy. There is no sense in eating it if you were not enjoying it. I like the Bengals, and am usually a Bills fan, but I can't root for a team that does play. Last few weeks I have been watching the college bowl games. some have been really interesting.
