Montgomery Ward 1934 Christmas Catalog !!!

Saturday, January 05, 2013

Thought I would send you this catalog as Christmas
is only 11 months away.

Happy shopping

You will find this interesting.

Look at those appliances.

Look at those fashions.

And the prices and you could buy day old chicks
25 for $1.90. Oh My !

Look how far we've 'progress' in just 79 years.

Christmas catalog or not,it's always interesting to recall
what grandma was paying for that girdle, when grandpa
was making about $25 a month

    Makes you wonder ....
In the year 2090... when they look at the sale fliers ... what will the comments be on the products being sold and the prices....
if bread was 10-cents a loaf then (1934) and is $2 a loaf now(2013), then what will it cost in 2090?
How about that for some scary thoughts....

I was born in 1937 so that was my era. Those prices look cheap but people still had to save up before buying much. Most of my dresses were home made. Thanks for the "look back". emoticon emoticon

With what the wages were back then, those were probably not cheap prices since that was the middle of the depression.
