The First Silent Saturday

Saturday, January 05, 2013

What a lovely, quiet morning today. There hasn't been a sound for hours, it's like everything is suspended until later in the day. There is a tiny bit of snow left in the courtyard and I need to get out there in the cold and start getting miles logged in for 2013. I want to try to keep up with getting in a mile every day, but now I'm already 5 miles behind. Funny, the first week and I'm already playing catch up with myself. Okay then, I'll go for a walk today and get it all started. Not too hard to catch up this weekend, six miles shouldn't be too difficult.
So there you have it, 36 minutes later and I have logged my first 2 miles of 2013. Yep, I just got back from my walk. I just got up, got dressed, walked 2 miles and logged it. That's how you start it, you leave your blog window open and just get up and walk. Open blogs have a bad habit of disappearing so I'm glad I dumped that first paragraph into one note. When I wake my computer back up, the blog window is blank. Must be some sort of pop up resetting problem when the computer comes back to life. Now for a yummy Chobani vanilla to get the protein started for the day. I have quit the slim fast shakes because I just can't stand being loaded up on that much sugar anymore. Everything is sugar and sodium, it's the crack and heroine of the food industry. Our bodies don't need anywhere near the amount that gets put into our food, yet we're conditioned all of our life to be dependent on the taste of sugar and salt in all of our foods.
I need to travel outside of cold cuts for lunch ideas. The salt in that stuff is just through the roof, yet making a sandwich is the easiest thing to do for lunch. I can brainstorm all weekend for ideas on how to replace the cold cuts. One thing easily done, I can roast my own tiny turkey breast and slice it up for sandwiches and make a little roast beef and slice that. That will increase the diversity of my lunches too, it's not just sandwiches. I can set up sliced turkey breast with a bit of sweet potato and a veggie for lunch. I need to write some ideas down and plan out a lunch menu for next week at work.
Have a great day today everyone. Now stop and go for a walk!
