Day 5 Juice Fast (not a pretty subject)

Saturday, January 05, 2013

So, I am up early on a Saturday. Why? I am still having bathroom issues. In addition to sharing my experience with all of you I am keeping a record for myself. So, I am going to be frank. Turn away now if you don't want to much information.

Here is something I forgot to share yesterday. I read that when juice fasting you should consider enemas, salt water flushes, laxative tea...something. Most juicing experts believe tha you need to do this to help your body get rid of the toxins that are being released from your system during the fast. So, when I didn't have my normal bathroom visit yesterday I did a salt water flush. I read to do 2 Tablespoons epsom salt in half quart warm water. I had only did 2 teaspoons of epsom salt in half quart warm water. It was gross!

Anyway, I did it and about half hour alter I was in the bathroom. I went three or four times and all was better. This was around 10 am yesterday. I continued my day...which was a tough one as most of you know. AFter I drank my dinner juice my bathroom trips returned. It is just a little bit each time, but an urgent feeling of needed to poo.

It is really frustrating because I feel good other than this. Upset with myself for putting this in motion. Not really sure what to do to stop it. I drank a lot of water since rising this morning and am considering putting off my breakfast juice for a few hours. Wondering if I should take something to stop it. It is not horrible, just really inconvienent.

By the way Weigh in this morning:

1/1 sw: 239.2
1/2 235.4
1/3 232.2
1/4 229.4
1/5 227.4

It is now 10 am and all is well. Drank a bunch of water and things are now back to normal. I just had my first juice. Made it of mostly vegetables as I thought that would be wisest.

a bunch of Kale
2 cups spinach
1 orange
went down a lot easier than I thought...didn't taste that bad.

1 kiwi
as you can see i am trying to have more veggies and less fruit

1 apple

It's good to get lots of veggies, but do be careful of too much kale. Everything in moderation. According to Dave Asprey (autor of the bulletproof diet), cooking kale will remove much of the oxalic acid. Too much oxalic acid leads to kidney stones and urinary infections. I do believe this since I was drinking kale smoothies just a few weeks ago and had a terrible episode of a uti. Good luck with the juice fast and emoticon with the weight loss!

You have truly inspired me. I bought a bunch of produce today, and am going to commit to 5 days of juicing, and see how it goes from there. I have never tried Kale before, but I bought some anyway. I am going going to try some of the combinations you have listed. Hope I get the amounts right, or at least close. I'll have to modify things a bit to make sure I am getting enough's orders. I don't know if you are using your nutrition tracker or not with this, but I am curious how much protein you are getting.
