Yesterday I went over calories by almost 400 (eek!) so today I woke up motivated to have a great day. Step one- threw out the last of the holiday sweets. Step two- hit up the grocery and totally stocked my kitchen with fruits, veggies, whole grains and lean meats. It's been so many months of eating junk I'd forgotten how good it feels to eat a whole day of healthy- it feel fantastic!
What I ate today-
Breakfast- plain oatmeal and a banana
Lunch- baby carrots and a whole grain pita with turkey, cucumber, mushrooms, and clover sprouts.
Dinner- baked cod, baked potato, green salad with light dressing and home made whole grain croutons (yummy)
Snacks- raw veggies with ranch, quaker popped mini rice cake snacks
So it's 10:15 at night, I'm about to hit the sack and I'm well within my ranges- yay!
There was this small part of me worried if I could do it again. It's a bit scary saying goodbye to all the junk my taste buds had made friends with again. Today reminded me that I feel so much better when I eat well- more energy, better mood. I shouldn't feel bloated and sluggish after eating, I should just feel not hungry. It was good for my taste buds to reunite with some old friends like sprouts and broccilli.
I feel like this day of awesome eating has changed my attitude- I'm excited to be back on the right track. I started thinking about how much I miss running and started looking forward to spring when I can start again. I'm excited for my first post-baby weigh in next week, that first week is always so encouraging :) And I'm proud about tomorrow being my 4 year Sparkversay- I should celebrate in some way. Any suggestions?
