Mileage goals for 2013

Saturday, January 05, 2013

Friday morning I was lying in bed thinking and doing math! I have decided that I will have two mileage goals for 2013, one for running and one for biking.

Running goal: 500 miles (7.45 year to date so far)

Biking goal: 1500 miles (8.1 year to date so far)

I truly am someone who likes ticking things off a list, and also someone who watches the numbers. So knowing that I need to get my workouts in on a weekly basis is going to help me make my yearly goal.

My running goal is very achieveable, but I don't want to set the bar too high and go too far too soon - Plantar Fasciitis is still very fresh in my mind. And I also want to do more long bike rides this summer (25 miles or more at a time), so will likely cut back on my runs in the summer time.

So I will start with these numbers, and see where I end up!

Those are some good goals. I keep pondering milage goals myself but i am not really sure what a realistic or ideal goal would be for running/walking.

Good journey to you! :) emoticon

that is some serious miles, why don't you make your biking 1513 that way together your doing 2013 miles in 2013......... that is only a half marathon distance. (at least that was my plan 500 and 1513)

Nice goals! I know what you mean about not wanting to set a higher running mileage goal, after my foot issue, I'm still hesitant to do too much, since my neuroma still lets me know it's there on occasion!

Setting goals to one's preference insures victory! It doesn't matter how you get there as long as it's safe and healthy! I know you will achieve, Judi! Rock it!

Like you, I believe in setting out doable plans and tracking them - "spreadsheets" are my friend, lol... I do think it helps with consistency when you track regularly.

I hear you re the PF, as I have the same thing flare up from time to time.
