End of the World and New Year's parties

Saturday, January 05, 2013

Well, I've been getting out there on the social circuit. The Mayan calander party at the museum was lots of fun. Loved the salsa band and dj. Note to self - take salsa dancing lessons in 2013. Made an attempt at salsa dancing with a guy. It was fun trying! Saw a guy I met at a singles mixer a week before that and he typed his number in my phone but then I got a text from Muscle Man and called my girlfriend to find her at the end of the party and ended up not saving the number! emoticon He was really cute and tall too! Oh well... Muscle man was out of town for New Years eve so I went out with my girlfriend to a hotel party. Never done that before so I had to try it. It was better than staying home remembering that my husband was on the road on a fake business trip with his fake job. I still have the texts he sent me at midnight to say Happy New Year and send me kisses. It's coming up on a whole year now since he died. I think I stay super busy so I don't dwell on the bad stuff at home.

I've been indulging in the holiday treats and drinkables of the season way too much. Put on about five lbs as a result but I'm back on track with salads at lunch time, oatmeal or yogurt for breakfast and soup or something sensible for dinner. I should start seeing results in a couple more days.
Good News! My college aged daughter got an internship! She has to work for free for the first month (of course before school starts when they can get more hours out of her). After that if they keep her (of course they will!) she'll get paid hourly and work 15 hrs per week- probably minimum wage but it will enough to keep me out of the hole! My youngest will stop getting Social Security when she graduates so the pressure was on for Lauren to get a paid internship or job at the mall. Luckily this job is at a graphics company so she'll be getting some great job experience. Today was her second day. She was nervous about her first day but I called her last night and she did fine.

I am so happy for Lauren! An internship in her field is really key in giving her experience and the opportunity to network and open even more doors in her future.

I am glad you are moving on with your life in a positive direction. You have proven yourself to be an amazingly strong woman and there is nothing that will stop you from achieving your dreams. You cannot ask for a better Mom/Role Model for your girls.

Have fun and may the new year bring you many blessings! -Connie emoticon
