As I wrote, son and I got the whole house "undecorated" Wednesday. We worked hard, and everything looks very bare, but I feel good about having it done so soon (for me). Now, we are ready for Woman's World photographs.
Women's World Magazine contacted a local photographer and he will be at my house tomorrow at 2:15. I made an appt. at a local beauty shop today, to have my hair styled at 10 tomorrow morning. I am taking a picture from the Today show, hopefully they can replicate what the NBC hair stylist did. It looked natural, but somehow she made my very thin hair look pretty full and I liked it.
I bought a sweater at Kohl's last night. It is a long sweater and has a belt. I decided I look as skinny as possible (which isn't saying much) in a sweater I already own that is belted. Unfortunately that sweater is black and grey striped, and they suggested I avoid BLACK for the picture. The new sweater is a turquoise color, and has some sparkle in it. Hope that doesn't create havoc with the camera.
I have been doing super well with my eating the last three days, since starting ANEW on January 2. I feel good about my progress, although this morning showed a momentary (hopefully) up-tick on the scale from a low of 149.6 on Thursday morning. I think it's water weight from too much salt on Thursday, and will be gone tomorrow. I know I shouldn't weigh so often, but I have done it right along during this journey of mine and I'm not quitting what has worked this well up til now. On those mornings when the scale reads low, I LOVE my little "weigher". Of course on those mornings when the darned scale shows a gain, I HATE it. But it doesn't affect my eating or my determination, or even my attitude. In fact a gain just makes me all the more determined--and that's a good thing, right?
The Women's World writer said they might want a picture of me in my kitchen with the fruits and vegetables I eat. So I stocked up on those at the grocery store and now I have no excuses not to eat lots of both! I've got a refrigerator full of grapes, (EXPENSIVE!) oranges, salad mixes, shredded lettuce, tomatoes, spinach, fresh pineapple, pears, apples and strawberries. Of course there's the ever-present bunch of bananas on my counter. I have a banana every single morning with my breakfast!
I think 2013 is going to be another great year. It's starting out that way anyhow. Retirement is fantastic, but I keep thinking I have to go back to work Monday. It's a very strange feeling when I realize I never have to go back to work again. I did accept a substitute teaching job for Jan. 14. The telephone recording said it was for the EXCITE program. I thought, "What is that?" But it's only for the afternoon so I accepted the job and then I Googled it. Turns out, EXCITE is what they call the Head-Start program in our school system. I will be working with 3- and 4-year-olds. That will be FUN! And it won't seem like "work" at all!
