When I plan my day, pack my food, or stay inside my house, good food choices are uncomplicated. Not easy, mind you, because there is always temptation, but with good planning, it becomes easier. Tonight, after work, and a trip to the doctor for my son, no dinner planned, I faced the real world - a take out menu!
In the past, I would have rationalized. A busy day, a long week, Ive been good, I deserve it, whatever. Tonight, instead of going for one of my old favorites like Fettucine Alfredo of Penne alla Vodka, I scoured the menu for something lighter. I ordered chicken & broccoli over linguine in a olive oil garlic sauce. Even this could have been dangerous considering present day restaurant portion sizes. However, while DH was out getting the food, I logged in to SP, planned on a cup of pasta, 3 oz of chicken, etc. ans when it came, I portioned it into a bowl, skipped the garlic bread and enjoyed the salad instead.
What is most phenomenal about all of this is that it happened almost naturally! It wasn't a huge drag! I didn't feel deprived! And now I'm both satisfied and impressed with myself. It just feels different this time. Like I'm really different rather than trying to make myself different.
