The Lucky '13: I Feel 45 Pounds Lighter

Friday, January 04, 2013

I feel 45 pounds lighter. That's because I am. That's what I focus on, not the 10-15 I gained over holidays. I started January 2012 as 330 pounds, and now I'm 285.

I have obstacles now with losing, one being my days are being used up by my job. My off days are being used up by taking someone to the grocery store and retail also wears me out. My meal breaks I could bring my lunch, however the break room is disgusting. But the food court is both costly and fattening. I know the calories of the food I eat there though. The Christmas/New Year meals are what set us back.

I also don't get in enough water throughout the day. If I drink what I usually drink during the day I'd have to pee every half hour. I might get in 6 cups if I'm lucky (that doesn't sound like me at all). We can only have a plastic water bottle at the register, mine holds 20oz. At least 6 hours of my day is at work.

Christmas shopping is over, so our hours went down from 6am-midnight to 10am to 9pm. The new news is, I'm keeping the job after holidays so I'm staying. I have to set up a plan that works for my schedule... whatever schedule my boss decides for me that week. As of now I need to focus on more water, counting calories better, and 10 minutes of fitness a day before work.

Lucky 13? It'll be more than luck if I lose any weight, but if I'm even 20 pounds lighter by the end of the year, it's a success.

    1. Can you walk to work?
    2. Can you brownbag in the Food Court or even outdoors @ lunchtime?
    3. You've lost 45 lbs. You *can* make Halinhalf happen!

Way to focus on the right things! Those holiday pounds will come off- afterall it's a lifestyle not a diet- and each step forward is progress.

I'm so glad you can have a plastic bottle at the register. At my last service job {before desk jobs that is} I wasn't allowed anything. I made it work by chugging water at certain intervals- just so I could stay hydrated through my 8-10 hour shifts. Like a college game you know? ha! All that to say, you are set up for success in 2013! Can't wait to see where you'll be in '14 :)

Working for a living sucks, eh? I think in time you'll find a schedule that works for you. If it's important to you, you'll make it happen!

Good for you with the weight loss!! I know what you mean about the drinking water - - I teach so it is hard for me. If it is safe (and warm enough - - I don't know where you live) you might want to think about taking your brown bag to the car and having a quiet de-stressing lunch. It isn't ideal to eat in the car, but I like the time to myself and can even read a bit.

Keep it up! You are inspiring! emoticon

    You can do this!!
    Buy a larger water bottle.
Pack your lunch, and go out to the food court to eat if the break room is disgusting OR clean the break room so that you can use it.
Definitely plan to exercise before you go to work. 10 minutes a day adds up. I know!! I don't remember, but are you in a mall? Many malls have walking clubs, and they let them in early just to walk the perimiter inside before the mall officially opens. Look into that!
Congrats on the 45 pound loss!! Keep it up. YOU CAN DO IT.
