December wrap-up

Aloha Sparkfriends!

We survived the holidays... Whew...

I haven't braved the scale yet, but I promise I will hold myself accountable by doing so tomorrow. Eeek! I visited California (my homeland, lol) for two weeks, and except for one hike and a few veggies, it was a pretty naughty trip health-wise. I hit all my favorite old haunts for chile relleno burritos, french fries, and partook in many the holiday dessert bar (and bar-bar). It was fun, but the junk-food party os OVER! And I'm ready, baby!

2012 was amazing. I set out to lose 20 pounds and I lost 40! That is something I have tried and failed at too many times to count. If 2012 was the year I lost the weight, 2013 will be the year I get fit.

I've re-read my earlier blogs (for inspiration, reminders, etc.), and almost every post references strength training and how I'm going to get around to it sometime soon (never). I kicked cardio and diet's butt last year, but never found my stride with fitness. I know I can do it, and I know that this is the year.

In December:

MY LITTLE SISTER GOT ENGAGED!!!


We spent a lot of time with family, including a really lovely dinner in Newport, where we watched a boat parade (I was actually pretty well-behaved that night- crab bisque, grilled fish, and ONE glass of champagne!):



And on New Year's Day, we went to Stone Brewery in Escondido in a limo (watch-out!):


It was a great month and so much fun, but I like a fresh start. I am really looking forward to being even healthier in 2013- like climb mountains, run, jump, stop jiggling healthy!

    I hear ya with the strength training part. I lost a ton of weight in 2012 but haven't gotten into a solid strength routine yet too. It's a goal for 2013. I look forward to seeing how you go forward with a plan to get it done! emoticon

    Congrats on a great 2012! And thanks for the inspiration! I just set a goal of losing 20 pounds, and I've been questioning the feasibility i getting there ever since. Knowing that same goal was far too easy for you gives me some hope emoticon
