A&I: Review of 2012 and goals for 2013

Friday, January 04, 2013

Health wise, 2012 wasn't the best year. For those of you who don't know, I had a couple of very challenging years. I experienced a massive weight gain due to undiagnosed endocrine issues. A year later I was diagnosed with Hypothyroidism and Poly cystic Ovarian Syndrome. In 2012, I continued to experience a lot of frustration and mood swings and anxiety because I felt extremely overwhelmed.

2012 did carry a couple of positive notes. I was put on Armour for my thyroid and I saw improvements in my energy. :)

I also reconnected with a friend from middle school. We didn't talk much then but we learned we have a lot in common. She tries to live each day slowly and enjoy every moment, which is something I am learning how to do. Definitely a positive. :)

Slowly, I am learning to let go of the anger I have been feeling and replace it with action. Anger won't get me anywhere. Action will. That doesn't mean I won't have moments of frustration. Everyone gets overwhelmed from time to time no matter what it is they are facing. The difference this year , 2013, is that I am ready to face this challenge and succeed!

A couple of people from the A&I team have spelled out their goals using a word. My word for this year is: FEARLESS

F-Fitness. Get in the fitness minutes through walking and going to the gym. Don't be afraid to try new exercises or a class like Zumba.

E-Embrace obstacles. There is always going to be something standing in the way. It's up to me to knock the obstacle down or work through it. The biggest challenge is not becoming my own road block.

A-Ambition. Ambitious people get things done! They are determined and nothing stands in their way. Be Ambitious! Stop wishing! Start doing!

R-Recover from low self esteem and anxiety. Enjoy every moment and make the most of life. Build confidence and step out out of my comfort zone!

L-Learn from my mistakes and move on. Every person and every situation can teach something valuable. Remember, progress, not perfection!

E-Endure difficult moments. Don't give up no matter how tough it gets. Nothing worth fighting for is easy! Easy is boring anyway!

S-Shine. Shine brightly by accomplishing my goals and seeing success. Feel good knowing that no matter how tough something is, I pushed through and made it happen! :)

S-Strong/successful & smiling- It takes strength to overcome inward and outward battles. A lot of us have a lot of strength, we just don't always recognize it. Successful & smiling because at the end of the year, I believe I will be successful and smiling. :)
