Going Primal Day 1 and 2

Friday, January 04, 2013

So the last few days have been kinda bad around here. Two sick toddlers, still sick mama who's pmsing, trying to get back into our normal groove since Shane went back to work Wed. Lots of coughing, snot, headaches and cravings to be had! I'm trying to stick to the Primal eating plan, but right now the detox phase sucks! I have given in a few times. Mostly do to my own lack of planning. Last night I just couldn't get chocolate out of my mind. I searched all the cabinets for a bar of dark chocolate convinced there had to be some somewhere! BTW, dark chocolate is Primal. I really just wanted a taste, but there was nothing! I ended up making Swiss Miss at 12:30 this morning. By the time I gave in, my craving was so intense and I was so tired that before it even registered I had made 3 cups of it. It did help my headache. Is it possible that cutting the sugar is causing some of the headache?
So I'm thinking of waiting until Monday to actually start the 21 Day Transformation. I am still doing the best I can, but I have to concentrate on my girls right now. If they aren't better by Monday then I'm taking them to the pedi. Although I do have to keep a close eye on Sarane. I really hope that this head cold doesn't turn into something worse! Elora is teething on top of the cold so she's just miserable. With her I'm more concerned with a possible ear infection. She just won't leave her ear alone. Right now they are both getting Advil and raw honey with cinnamon (mixed in a little warm water). Sarane is also getting Children's Clariten. To try and help with drying up her sinuses a bit. I would be much better if I could get a few decent nights sleep.
The only other thing I have to report is that I finally made my own laundry detergent! I've wanted to try it for a while, but I have sensitive skin and that's made me scared. So far I've done some towels and kids clothes. Right now the hard load is in...Shane's work clothes. Lots of coolant, oil and just plain yuck. It's a hard and messy job. I know because I used to work there. I also switched from using Oxiclean to Seventh Generation laundry additive. It's not much more expensive and it's better for the environment and my kids! It also doesn't make me cough if I accidentally breathe near it!
My laundry detergent is this weeks Pinterest try. From now on, I'm going to try one thing I have pinned each week. I have just shy of 1700 pins and it grows all the time! Here is the recipe link thefrugalgirls.com/2012/

The only thing about it is I'm used to free and clear so no smell. The Fels Naptha has a scent that is kinda strong. Not after the laundry is washed, just when you are pouring it in. I have to get used to that!

It's hard to try to do environmental and health things when you don't feel well, especially. Hope things start going better soon!
