Bright start to 2013

Friday, January 04, 2013

2012 was physically very difficult with 3 surgeries to go through and recover from. I had a weight gain and had to get refocused over and over to getting the exercise I need and had worked up to before I had health problems. Bob and I are in the swing of walking to the Y three mornings a week in the early morning. We come across a woman who has physical challenges every morning at 5 without fail. Yes, we've failed to be there, but she hasn't! She told us this morning that she walks several miles early every morning and has done so for the past 8 years. We marvel at her amazing streak! She exclaimed to us that she feels great! We wonder how mobile she would be if it weren't for her dedicated daily walks? Which made me think of how vital it is for my health to keep walking and exercising to stay mobile!

My biggest goal is to stay faithful to exercise and also to get off of sugar. Did it twice before for two years each time. I feel better and as sugar is s huge problem for me, it will help me with my eating plan.
I am encouraged by my goals and determination. Our son left yesterday to go with friends on a skiing adventure to several ski mountains in our state before heading back to college so we are empty nesters yet again. It's fine. It's actually GOOD!

Have a great day in sparksville! emoticon

Hey there buddy, good to see you post a blog. I have been thinking about you. So sorry to hear you have had surgeries and the weight gain. Good for you to start the year out at the Y.

I am doing good. I lost my sweet Father last July and that was tough. About a week before he passed, he told me he wanted to see him Mom. I told him GM was in heaven. He was very quiet and then a few minutes later, told me again he wanted to see his Mom. It dawned on me on the way home that he was telling me that he was ready to go. That made me feel better.

Good to have you back. Know I have thought about you a lot and it just made me smile when I saw you had posted a blog today.

    Hugs, Sunny

I, too am amazed by the determination of some older people. I know that keeping busy and active is key to their success. I want to get back to a place where exercise feels good again and that only comes from doing it consistently each day. Glad you are back to walking to the Y and are ready to reclaim your health! 2013 is the year of no excuses... emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon

emoticon Seeing First Hand how quickly Older People can lose their Mobility and - as a Consequence, Their Independence - Keeps me Motivated. That is also why I view my Gym Membership as An Investment rather than an "Optional Expense". I may end up in a Nursing Home or Assisted Living Situation at some point, but it won't be because I Didn't fight to stay Active & Independent with everything I had in me.
