2013 is Going to be a Super Year

Friday, January 04, 2013

2012 was a pretty good year. I cycled over 9,300 miles. Rode several centuries and numerous metric centuries. My new ride for the year was the Tour de Tucson, a wonderful ride for those interested in a relatively flat century plus (111 miles). For 2013, I've hired (again) a coach to help me get on the podium for the city's Senior Games. So, my quest will be to get some real quality rides in, without regard to total mileage. That will mean some intervals, hill repeats, tempo rides, etc. If yesterday is any indication of what that sadist (LOL) coach is going to put me through, I'm in for a rude awakening. But, that's OK. If it makes me a better and more efficient cyclist, I'm all for it. Do you have any cycling goals for 2013? HOOAAA!!

Quality seems to trump quantity more often than not. emoticon biking over 9000! That's simply amazing. Good luck with coach and hope you're standing in the winner's circle soon. emoticon

Wow! that's a lot of miles! My goal this year is to do as many rides as my job will let me. I have several planed but have only signed up for one so far. Hope to see you out there on the road soon.!

You have cyclist legs, don't you? Every time I ride past a cyclist, I look at their legs. Never fails! Great calves!!

Once (back when I was about 215 lbs) I was at a stop light next to a Lance Armstrong look alike (he was on his way to the soccer complex if his baggage and rippling muscles was any indication) and he was like, "Do you do this often?" Referring to my amazing cycling workout I was getting....I looked down at his muscular, tan legs, then I looked down at my chunky calves and thighs...I snickered/snorted a little and said, "Uh, no." bahahaha...light turned green and he was off at a zillion miles per hour. So funny to me to this day!

You sure logged a lot of miles last year, AWESOME. Great new goals for this year also, I'm sure you will have no trouble in making it happen, you are always so positive and continue to be an inspiration to me and to us all. Best wishes in the New Year my friend.

Cool riding, Bill. This year I'm aiming for a couple of centuries and a double century like last year. Weekly commutes too of about 100-120 miles a week or more. One aim is to be able to climb as fast and furious as I did as a racing youngster. I love the challenge of the ascent and the liberating feeling of the wind through my teeth (no hair left) on the descent. Good luck with your goals. Every cyclist will be cheering you on. :)

Make sure to send us pics of you on the podium :)

My riding goals for the year include cycling quite a bit. I am signed up for my 2nd Ironman in August plus 100 KM bike ride for charity. The other races are 1/2 marathons, so I will use the biking as cross training
