I Definitely Went Over That Cliff!!!

Friday, January 04, 2013

Hello Everyone!

Happy New Year! I hope all is well in your world!

Well my friends, I'm beginning the new year with a holiday weight gain of....(drum roll, please!))

4.4 lbs! emoticon

Yikes! How the heck did that happen?!! Uh, NOT a surprise! I know EXACTLY how it happened! I took my eye off the ball for not 1 week, but 2! The first week my family was here visiting, my focus was on them & not me. I didn't exercise or track or even THINK about watching what I put in my mouth. We went out to eat, & I cooked & baked. Enough said. So what happened after they left? Did I get back on track? Uh, no. Oh, I half heartedly tried, mind you. But my appetite was stuck on "crazy" by then...& it was difficult to rein in! I did get back to my exercise tho, thank goodness! And I'm going full force with it now! It's my saving grace!!!

So, I get on that scale at WW's yesterday & I see a weight gain of 4.4 lbs! Yikes! Okay, so I stay for the meeting & get centered. Ahhhhhh, it did it for me! I was renewed & psyched for the new year! I'm thinking again.....I can DO this!

I'm giving myself 26 weeks to lose 25 lbs. The target date is July 20, 2013. I said it here first! Of course, the plan is...

*Stay in caloric range everyday!
*Focus & mindful eating!
*TRACK!
*Water
*Move my body!
*MORE fruits & veggies!

Alright! Let's get to it! Shoot for the stars, my friends...the sky's the limit!!! We CAN do it!

HAPPY 2013!!!
Hugs,
Rose

Rose I gained nothing over the holidays i was sick and DH had shingles but after I was 2 pounds DOWN. Then DH had his HIP rep[laced I had to do everything since we have no family or friends close by. Too many friends are near you in Florida.
I thought I was eating well but hotel and purchased foods put me up more than 4 pound so I decided FEBRUARY I would be 28 days to make a difference.
I just walked 4 miles and over 10,000 steps so here i am trying very hard in February.
HUGS Pat in Maine.

    Hi Rose,

Happy New Year to you also. 4.4 lbs is not bad at all. You are so good to take control now before it gets out of hand. I myself just got on the scale today and I am at 160 vs 158. Could be the popcorn I have been having with my Mom the past week. Not use to the salt. I also know personally that I am drinking way less water than I was. So I better take charge like you also. Or could be the new med I'm on ( Nuerontin) for neuropathy pain. Regardless I need to get back to tracking. Love the idea of weight watchers. You must get lots of good fitness and nutrition ideas there. I'm sure you will pass them along to your spark friends. You have a great plan Rose. A lb a week seems very doable. Especially for you. The thing I love about you Rose is that you take control when the need arises. I just love it. You have taught me so much and will never stop to amaze me.

Oh I can relate, from Thanksgiving on it was a chore for me, combined with other factors I blew it, the only saving grace was my 2-3 mile walks, but I'm back and I'm cheering you on we can succeed emoticon

As I can relate totally because I gained about 10 pounds over the holidays starting from Thanksgiving and my jeans were beginning to feel uncomfortable. Your attitude is what it takes getting back to the importance of tracking and exercising and owning up to our mistakes. I know you eat healthy and will be mindful of what you put in your mouth just as I am trying to be more mindful. I love your goals very easy to achieve. I know it's time to set my own goals for 2013 and even break it down for monthly goals too! You are a winner my friend and always so motivating!

Of course you can do this, and I know you will do it! Life happens. I love that you always set a good example for others. No matter what happens, we can always choose to pick ourselves up right where we are and make good choices from that point on. Don't look back, look ahead. I always tell myself to focus more on how I can make this happen, rather than why I can't do this. Positive, no matter what. You have helped me to be positive in the past. Thanks for being my SparkPeople ROCK! We can get healthier in 2013.

It's amazing how much easier it is to gain than it is to lose. Thankfully, after two weeks you are back on track and with reasonable goals. We know you can do it. Do the work now and enjoy the glory later!

I am happy you stopped that gain in its tracks. I find it a bit depressing that we have to think about this everyday to maintain any loss but whining does not get me anywhere. So...... back at it for 2013!

Your well on your way to success Rose.

1. You identified the problem
2. You took responsibility
3. You didn't waste time beating yourself up
4. You set measurable, reasonable goals
5. You defined a strategy for achieving those goals
6. You are now executing the strategy

You are a role model for the rest of us.
