June 30th I'm 35

Friday, January 04, 2013

I have a birthday that is nearly exactly mid-year. It makes goal-setting timelines pretty easy, if unimaginative. I was playing with my weight loss goal settings here on Spark. Then it told me that if I lost 2 pounds a week I'd be under 200 pounds before my birthday.

And pondering that kinda stunned me.

I can't quite explain it. But sometimes the numbers are mysterious and foreign. My actual goal is more like an average of 1 pound a week. I could reach that (still for some weirdness seems unreachable) 'under 200' milestone that I haven't seriously thought about in a long time. My caveat is that I need to be strong and make the other fitness goals I have planned, and will not forsake them for a scale reading.

But when I stick to my fitness and food goals, the weight goes.

I'm 35.

I'll try on the thought of weighing 200 by then, maybe with a 222 lb warm-up imagining.

emoticon I agree that Whatever the Scale says, you will be healthier in 6 Months than you are now. And that is the Most Important thing, in My Opinion.

No matter what you weigh now or on June 30, you will be healthier because I have this feeling that you are in this for life - a good, healthy, happy, fulfilling life!

    You can do it!

I have always believed age was a state of mind and there are only 4 ages in my life that mean anything to me.

I looked forward to being 13 so I could claim I was a teenager.

I looked forward to being 16 so I could drive.

I looked forward to being 21 so I could drink legally.

I look forward to retiring when I am 67 with full Social Security benefits. My fear is that the Feds will push my retirement age up or screw-up Social Security before I can retire in about 20 years.

BTW I see that your name is Jocelyn. That is the name of my 11 year old granddaughter.

Here mother had a new baby 2 years ago and named her AVA. She said she wanted an easy name for her to spell as Jocelyn was such a harder name to learn.
