Lydia turned two weeks old yesterday! Motherhood is everything I ever dreamed of and more. Lydia is the most beautiful baby (I'm not biased or anything) :) We feel so very blessed to have this most amazing gift. She is a very content baby, only fussing when she is hungry or needs a diaper change. She sleeps 4-5 hours at night, only waking to feed.
We have had issues with her gaining weight. She was born at 6 lbs 6 oz and went home from the hospital at 5 lbs 11 oz. We had a series of pediatrician appointments and, because my milk supply is pretty low, we decide to supplement with formula after every other feeding. On Monday, she had lost 2 more ounces and I was really upset. I felt like I was starving my beautiful child. The doctor and Ken reassured me that we would get it worked out and make the necessary changes to help her gain. We had to supplement with two ounces of formula after every nursing session. Today we had another weight check and she gain 6 ounces!! She moved out of the 1st percentile into the 2nd percentile! The doctor was very pleased because getting out of the 1st percentile can be very difficult! She is in the 9th percentile for height and 35th percentile for head circumference!
We are still supplementing after every feeding but her pediatrician gave me suggestions of how to increase my milk supply. I pump after every other nursing session, take fenugreek, eat oatmeal and drink mother's milk tea. I absolutely love nursing so I hope I can get my supply up!
Right now she is in preemie clothing, can rollover during tummy time, loves being held skin to skin, fixates on our faces, and hates diaper changes!
Waiting to see if she is breech and we need and ECV. She turned on her own, yay!
She's here! Via C-Section after a long labor but so worth it!
6lbs 6 oz
In the recovery room, nauseous but so happy
Happy family in the hospital
So in love
Isn't she beautiful?
