Streaks and how I'm doing with them

I'm a team called Sunny Gals, and we are not too far from the end of the Falling for Fitness challenge. In week 7, our task was to set up some streaks for ourselves. This week the challenge is to report on how well we are doing with those streaks. We added them to our Other Goals page where you can add your own personal goals.

My first goal was to stay within 1500 calories per day. to be honest, I did absolutely horrible with that one for the most part. However, since last Thursday, a week ago today, I am happy to say that I have done that every day. That's 7 days completed, and when I get through today (it' already 5 pm here) it will be 8 days. So I'm very happy with how far I've come over the past week.

My second goal was to do strength training at least 2 times a week. That has been good some weeks and poor others. Once I get into it, I really do like strength training. but it's the getting started that is hard. I have stretch bands and a few weights at home, and there are a lot of body weight strength training exercises you can do at home. So whether I can get to the gym or not is not a good excuse. I also tend to have an all-or-nothing tendency, which means if i can't do it for an hour I don't even start. I'm working at reminding myself I can do smaller periods of time and do more days a week, working on different areas, instead of just blowing it off because I don't have an hour, or don't feel like committing to an hour. It's still a little sporadic but I've gotten one session in this week and aiming to get one in tomorrow. I did a lot of cardio today, including the second session of the c25k program.

My third goal was to get in at least 30 minutes of dedicated cardio training 5 days a week. That has also had it's ups and downs but over the past week or a little more I've been doing better. Some weeks I haven't gotten it in that often, but I have gotten in at least 3 days a week. Last week I got in 5 days, and right now I have 3 days and intend to do cardio tomorrow and Saturday, which will give me the 5 days for this week also. As you can tell by other blogs, I've been doing a lot of hiking. I also have a stationary bike and eliptical at home, so again not getting to the gym or weather being bad is not an excuse. And some days I have started using my exercise bike again. So I haven't done as well as I wanted, but I'm making progress. I also have Wii games and exercise dvd's I could use. Today I got out and did my program for c25k and an additional almost 5 miles of walking in addition.

I am excited at the progress I've seen over the past week, even if all the weeks haven't been great.
