I think I am dehydrated from all the sobbing. He went in at 2:50 pm (I am writing this a 4:13). I couldn't go but I should have - he had one bad (fused) hip and the other one had an infection in it. I feel awful I wasn't there for him I will sure miss him. I hope he is in a better place. I have to stop. Sorry.

    Thanks - its true one cat can never replace another- I had a real dislike of Sam as he shed a LOT and I was dead set against getting any long haired cats. But when Malcolm died (MY cat) I realised we BOTH had lost our best friend.

    Your blog really touched me. We have 3 cats.

My cat passed 12/1/11 . His name was Sam and I had him for 14 years. I was inconsolable for several days. It was especially hard to watch the other 2 cats look for him.

We completed our family once again this past April with Oliver. When we first picked him up from the shelter, he was nothing like Sam. In the past few months, I've found Oliver doing some of the same things Sam did. Don't get me wrong, no other cat will ever replace Sam. However, I find comfort in it.
