So, I bought a few different brands of shake bases, for blender shakes. I bought a bunch of over ripe bananas, super cheap at the grocery store, then peeled and sliced them all...put them in ziploc baggies and into the freezer they went. I bought some berries and froze those too.
I have some protein shake mix, but I was looking for something that would give me maximum vitamin-mineral without a ton of calories, that I can add fruit, yogurt, juice or almond milk to.
This week, I have been using Unsweetened Spiru-teen. For 80-100 calories, I mix it with a banana, some berries, some ice cubes and some juice or almond milk. It has 14g of protein, 0gFat, 140mg sodium, 1g fiber, and 100% of over 20 vitamins/minerals. Of course it has chlorophyll, bee pollen and spirulina too. The packaging says it is suitable for a diabetic person too.
The flavor is great, no sweeteners added, so I can let the bananas do that job on their own. So far, I am impressed with it...and the calorie count isn't bad, since I don't mix it with dairy, unless I add yogurt, but then I control how much.
I also bought Vitamin Code's Raw Diet shake mixes and I will try those over the weekend...but so far, Spiru-Teen is just fine.
