Treadmill Therapy

So, I had one of those days at work today. You know the kind. Where when I talk about it I want to use ALL CAPITAL LETTERS and lots of exclamation points and maybe even a few other funky characters to express my frustration level.

The funny thing is, earlier in the day, it was pretty slow, so I got on the treadmill and walked for 30 minutes. Had to stop once or twice to handle a phone call or two, but did 30 minutes, burned something like 150 calories and felt good that I had gotten that done for the day. Mind you, this was all prior to the capital letter/exclamation point issues. On my way home from work, I was still carrying the intense stress from the day and all I could think about was getting home, getting back on that treadmill and pounding out that frustration in a run. And I did it! I did another 35 minutes on my treadmill at home and burned another 300+ calories! Does my stress feel like it's completely gone away? Not so much. But you know what? I feel pretty darn awesome for logging over 60 fitness minutes in one day! Now THAT'S an exclamation point I can be happy about!

    Great for realizing it! I realize it too sometimes -- when I am frustrated and unhappy, exercise really helps!

    Here's a pat on the back! Great post and good for you.

I don't often think to let off steam using exercise--I'm too apt to forget that option. But you're right. It does work.

I'll try to remember this next time I'm feeling stressed.
