Planning my New Year Goals

Thursday, January 03, 2013

I'm still working in my new year goals....of course I'll eat healthy and exercise most days....but I need some new goals, something to jazz up my life....
I need a new hobby....

Our New Years Day was very nice, we had a relaxed visit with family, I made the Chicken Tortilla Soup from the recipe here at SP....very good, I did use the unsalted chicken stock instead of the low sodium chicken broth and only used half the chicken as we were having other meat, and cheese and humus...
Everyone loved the soup, it very good, and I will make again....

I am looking for new recipes to try, knowing that eating new things helps me stay on track.....
I found this site with a lot of good recipes.... it's a free site ....

see what ya think I got a few good crock pot recipes and shared with family who are trying to eat healthy and loose weight....

let us know if you try any of them and which ones were good and worth trying...

ONE IMPORTANT THING IT GIVE CALORIES, FATS, SODIUM , FIBER ETC....SO MAKES IT EASY TO TRACK YOUR FOOD.....tracking is so important when you are trying to loose weight...

in a sparkpeople article it said the number one reason people don't loose weight is they over estimate how much the exercise and under estimate the calories they eat.....
emoticon guilty as back to weighing all food....
hope this helps someone reach there goals in 2013...

Have a healthy day.....make everyday count

Oh thats for sure, I pondered very briefly with "trying" not tracking, just eating the meals I knew make up healthy days... then threw that idea right away and know I have to track.

Over the holidays, I got a little lazy with measuring my food, but I've been back on track with that for 6 days now and I am already making progress!

Thanks for the link, I've bookmarked it. Love it that they have vegetarian recipes!

Your comment about the article mentioning that people overestimate exercise and underestimate calories...that's an issue I saw with the exercise tracker here. I did a comparison of calories burned for various things using just the tracker and then using data from the exercise equipment (if they have the hand pads with the heart rate monitors) and also from my own heart rate monitor. Wow, what a difference! The tracker itself showed me burning way more calories than either of the heart rate monitors. My personal one was the most accurate because it included my age, weight, and whatever else I programmed into it. If I had used just the tracker here, I would have been overeating! (sort of like I'm doing at the moment LOL)

You are doing great and I continue to applaud you!

Kitt52 thank you for posting the recipe site, my main problem I find is cooking for one, I know a lot of the meals I make I can freeze and that is what I do for the most part. The dietician I see also told me to use " Stock " instead of broth because it does have less salt and is healthy so that is what I have started doing.

Sounds good! I am not good at estimating (eye-balling it and guessing) how much I am eating. I am working on it and getting better.
