Heading into Day Two

Thursday, January 03, 2013

Well, this morning got off on the wrong foot, that's for sure! My daughter got ready for school, it was almost time to leave and I walked into the garage for something. My DD thought we were leaving, came out the door behind me and there we were, locked out of the house. It's cold, it's raining, I have no car key, no nothing. I ran to where I keep a key hidden and what do you know? It's not there. Why in the world would it not be there?? Then I remember...I gave it to the guy who came to fix my refrigerator a while back, now where in the heck did i put it when he gave it back to me??? So...I run over to my sister's house, (not far) where her husband is luckily still home to get a key. He can't find it. Yay. He's late for work and wrestling a 3 yo to get him to daycare, so I just couldn't ask him to bring my DD to school. I had to call my mom and get her to come to bring my DD to school. My mom is great. I love my mom. She swears that I have never given her a key to my house. She actually became quite huffy when I insisted that she had one. Well, there was no use in asking her to just please take me to her house so I could look, because well, she SAID she didn't have one and that's that! (you would just have to know her...no use arguing). I called one of my other sisters hoping at some point I gave her a key, but she says no.
At this point I'm not sure what I'm going to do, but I do know one thing for sure. I CANNOT go to work in sweatpants and a t-shirt, no make up, my hair not brushed and to top it all off -- no bra!!
I guess it all could have been worse...I'm lucky that I use my cell phone for an alarm clock, so when I got up this morning I'd slipped it into the pocket of my sweats. I could have been outside in the rain with no way to call anyone! Ha! So -- my mom gets my daughter to school and before I decide to go ahead and call a locksmith it dawns on me that the door going to my garage needs to be re-hung, it doesn't quite fit right. If the deadbolt isn't engaged there just might be a way to get it open -- Yay! I jimmied the lock with a pharmacy rewards card!
Now NO ONE on earth has to see me in sweats, no makeup, hair awry and oh yeah...no brassiere. Oh -- except for my poor BIL....hopefully he has a bad memory and will forget.
SO-- that's how my day started, BUT I got inside, got a shower, got dressed and then stuck to my goal of eating breakfast.
I'm ready for day TWO on track. My goals for the day are: Breakfast (done!)
drink my water (I've gotten a start), exercise (not yet), pack snacks for work (done!)
and dinner is planned and ready to cook when I get home. I'll have to do some exercise when I get home from work since I didn't get it this morning.
The day is looking up and I'm excited to be getting back on track. It feels good when I plan and follow through.

Ok, I'm laughing just a little because I can see Grandmother's face. Poor Donnie.
Glad it all worked out and you were able to pull it together.
Hey- here it's snowing. Somebody always has it worse.
Bless your heart.

If ever there was a time for a fellow Alabamian to say "BLESS YOUR HEART!" in the most sincere of ways, it is now! Congratulations on not totally losing it and justifying a day of binge-eating as a follow-up. You're doing great!

And someday down the road, re-read this post and re-frame it and it could become the basis for a pilot script for a new sit-com and you could make millions! emoticon

Keep on keeping on, nice person!
