Two Book Reviews: Beast & Undeniable

Thursday, January 03, 2013

Help!! It is only January 3 and I am in a romance novel rut! I swear my next book will be more redeeming.... I like to read romance novels occasionally because they are quick, easy, mindless formula fiction (and who doesn't like a happily ever after ending?) but they truly are like junk food for the brain-lol.

1. Beast by Pepper Pace: Romance. A modern day beauty & the beast story with a decent story line and fairly good character development. The trashy sex scenes detracted from the story and the quality of the book. Self-published book. With a little editing and rewriting this could be a very good * * *

2. Undeniable by Madeline Sheehan: Romance. Biker club angst! A young girl falls in love with the much older leader of a rival biker club. Graphic and violent at times (warning: it has a rape scene). A decent plot but an overall lack of character development. I felt very little emotional connection to the heroine or the story. Self-published book. Would have been better with an editorís touch.

Thanks for the reviews, especially a warning for violence. I'd rather skip that! I prefer non-fiction but *do* read some silly stuff now and then. I'm *still* working on Clash of Kings. I only read about a page or 3 at a time, so you can imagine.
