Jumped the gun...

Thursday, January 03, 2013

I've decided not to do that Muscle and Fitness diet I posted. I originally planned to start doing some intense strength training to tone up but now I remember just how much of a commitment it is. I've got way too much on my plate right now.

I should be starting a new job soon. The position at the Psychiatric facility isn't going to be available as soon as I had hoped so I'm hoping to find some temporary contract work in the meantime.

For now my plan is to focus on toning up with quick and easy calisthenics at home. Also, I plan to stick with the Bikram yoga. I might not be able to do it daily, but I'd like to do it at least 2-3 times per week. And I want to hike and run some also.

So far getting my entire family to eat cleaner has been only a lit bit of a struggle (thanks to my youngest daughter who could literally LIVE on cereal, peanut butter and jelly, or bean burritos and that's it). But we're working on it! So far so good!

Hope you all are having a great New Year!

I think that is a good choice. You are doing so well where you are at, ENJOY IT. You have plenty of time to tweak your diet slowly and to add more ST. Your family is still most important and you don't want to rob from them the quality time you are now allowed to give them. You aren't just good looking, you are smart too. ;-)

I have a picky eater due to food allergies as a baby. She's outgrown the hardest to control, so that's good. Lately I have not been asking their input at all on dinner, just putting food down in front of them and my previously picky eater has eaten and enjoyed roast beef (a vegetarian!) and Hoppin'John (NewYears BlackEyed Peas) YAY!

It's great that your setting reasonable expectations and adjusting where needed, which will help you succeed. Kids go through all sorts of different eating phases - some can be pretty darn strange. Good luck with your cleaner eating plan - I look forward to hearing how it goes and what changes you're making.

Good for you hanging in there with your daughter. I started an incentive program when our diets changed overnight due to food sensitivities. I would offer them a quarter for each new food or dish I presented.
I work out at home unless I run. Enjoy the journey. emoticon

I can relate, I tend to get excited when starting a new diet or exercise regimen. Then I realize I'm in way over my head. Then I fall into a cycle of anxiety that can trigger a binge. You are doing such an amazing job, I know you will reach your 2013 goals.

Sometimes it is ok to take a realistic step back and ajust our goals. I feel like over reaching, exspecting TOO much of ourselves, can be a little dangerous. It sets us up to be overwhelmed and drown.

I think it is wise that you readjusted.

I have to be careful with my own plan, to step it up enough to be effective, but try not to cause my own defeat.

Agreed, it's a big commitment. I've tried several M&F hers workouts and they'll keep you in the gym for over an hour, especially if you're doing cardio too.

sounds like my daughter, she'd live on cereal, sandwiches and bean burritos if I didn't encourage her to have a try of other things, usually it's "have a bite of this thing then you can have pudding" which I hate doing but she just says no otherwise.

Good that you're realistic about how much you can really do!
