Movin' Right Along..... The muppets :)

Wednesday, January 02, 2013

3 day streak for 2013 rockin along nicely. I am happy, positive, and feel confident again. I think I really struggle with my life when I'm not working full time and I MISS MY OWN MONEY! I suck at budgeting and sort of feel useless if I'm not being a mover and a shaker ...well maybe it's time to just worry about being my own body's mover and shaker. And in the process of studying to be an International Fitness Professional puts a little extra hitch in my giddy up because I feel it's my job now to reach my goal body.
By the way...here's a pic of what I WILL look like in a year!

I'm really loving my fitbit and I think I actually like it better than my body bugg ;) who knew?!

I have been having pain in my right hip after my circuit workouts and after 30+ minutes of walking! Driving me insane...plus my back is a jiggy again...since the 24th December. So I went to the doctor today and he always laughs at me....but he knows I love explanations and details and he doesn't fail to disappoint today! :) giggle. He wrote down my diagnosis and told me to google it! :)

Greater trochanteric pain syndrome
This bursa is situated adjacent to the femur, between the insertion of the gluteus medius and gluteus minimus muscles into the greater trochanter of the femur and the femoral shaft. It has the function, in common with other bursae, of working as a shock absorber and as a lubricant for the movement of the muscles adjacent to it.
Occasionally, this bursa can become inflamed and clinically painful and tender. This condition can be a manifestation of rheumatoid arthritis or of an injury (often resulting from a twisting motion or from overuse), but sometimes arises for no obviously definable cause. The symptoms are pain in the hip region on walking, and tenderness over the upper part of the femur, which may result in the inability to lie in comfort on the affected side.

Then came the question i hated for the first time in years...."how much do you weigh?"
i replied "too much"
" get on the scale he says"

up since last visit...which I knew...my ankle flaring up, then this crap...ugh! i know...and he knows that i love nutrition and fitness and need to "get My Groove Back" --- and happily I feel like I have. I feel better mentally than I have in months...funny how a new year brings that much hope and light to a dark cloudy mood. Also being back on Spark helps me too! :) Thanks to everyone for their kind words, goodies, notes, and messages :)

I asked about my back and he just looked at me and said get your diet and activity on track and you'll be fine, ...hmmm....quite humbling huh?! Funny how I knew that but hoped there was a different reason...nope..just too big of a badonk-a-donk!

He said I just need to work through the pain ...and gave me some Celebrex to try. I replied with "hey I remember seeing commercials for this in the states...lots of white haired people in the ad" he assured me I wouldn't be on it long HA! I came home and read every word of the package inserts...as I do...man this stuff sounds like the shizzle! I can't take normal anti inflammatory meds because it causes nerve pain so this is different...hope it does ALL it claims on that sheet....Bionic Wunder Woman always been a dream!

So on that note, I'm popping on my shades and iPod and headed out for a walk...then making the Tex Mex Calzone from SparkRecipes for dinner.
Hope everyone is having a great new year so far!

******UPDATE.... Did over 10,000 steps yesterday and today...with pain, and blisters and it took 2 walks both days to get it done! Last night I laced up and finished around 9:30 and tonight I actually left the house again at 10 PM with like 4000 left to do...but I did them. :) I take a screen shot of my fitbit totals and text them to my man...holds me accountable and hopefully it will inspire him a little too.

Glad to see your update! I *love* the pic. I would totally like to look like that by the end of the year too!

I hope the meds do the trick. I have no doubt that you'll do your part to get your weight down. :)

I have had more recent knee pain while walking as well and since I've already had one knee replacement at the ripe old age of 48 I'm trying my darnedest to not have to get the left one replaced. Loved your commercial "hey I remember seeing commercials fort his in the states...lots of white haired people in the ad".. haha.. made me laugh. Hope it all works out. I was just placed on mobic myself, Doc didn't want to use Celebrex... Have a great day and TY for stopping by my page earlier. Donna

Go you and your 3 day streak! Did you get your fitbit for Christmas? My brother gave me one, and now my flatmate thinks I'm crazy because I'm constantly pacing the house to get my 10,000 steps!
