Hello Bloggers

Wednesday, January 02, 2013

Hello guys and gals.
This would be my first blog. This blog is going to be about fitness, God's guidance and various other things in my life I enjoy doing and talking about. I sure hope you have a great time while your here and don't forget to visit my Sparkpage and leave a message.

Guess I will start off with introducing myself and giving you guys some info about me.

My name is Zachery Getman but you can call me Zach. I am 32 yrs young 6'0'' tall and 300 lbs. I am wanting to lose 50 lbs to start off with. I have a lovely wife and 2 kids. Asher is my youngest and he is 18 mths old and Nicholas is my oldest and he is 16 yrs old. Both of my boys really love football. Asher loves to go around and yell touchdown, well his version of it anyways, lol.

I live in the panhandle of Texas and I work night shifts as a Corrections Officer. My eating and exercise habits are terrible due to the shift I work. I am changing my eating habits first to then I will step into exercise, although I am more conscientious of my exercise. I love football, like my sons and I watch the Cowboys and the Texans. The Cowboys are my favorite team. Sure hope to see the Cowboys and the Texans in the Super Bowl some day, lol.

I attend the First Assembly of God Church and try to put God first in everything I do. I recently learned to play guitar with the help of God and youtube. I love to play song specials for my church that praise and give glory to God. I was blessed with the position of Royal Ranger's Commander at our church back in April of 2012 and have been discipling kids from 1st to 6th grade.

Last year I started my first garden and it was a great success. I had so many vegetables I had to give them away. I am really looking forward to my next garden, going to have a lot of different vegetables this year but I will plant fewer of multiple plants, maybe I wont have such a surplus, lol.

Well I feel like I am just rambling on and on so I will close this one out.

    Nice to meet you Zach,
look forward to seeing you grow and your pounds lost go up. You can add exercise 10 minutes at a time this is what got me started and keeps me going. I can usually find 10 minutes every few hours to stay active all day long.
Your kids sound like a lot of fun to be with and I am glad you are in the process of saving your marriage. Keep us in the loop on any help you need or motivation and the team will help out where we can.
I hope your family decides to come along on your journey to better health with you. emoticon

I hear you about being on night shift! Spent too many years as a night shift nurse. Never did get my weight problem solved while I was working; in fact working hard on it after 3 years of retirement. But I thought I'd share one change I made a few years back and at least stopped gaining.

I couldn't figure out any eating pattern for about 20 years. What finally helped was to consider a "day" to be the calendar date 24 hours. Once I started paying attention to a calendar date, I quit trying to worry about whether I'd eaten breakfast, lunch, supper, or snack. It didn't matter if it was a work day, a single day off, or a vacation. I made a point of 3 meals and a snack on the calendar date. Without that structure, I'd been eating anywhere from once a day to maybe 8 times since I couldn't establish a pattern.

Enjoyed both your blogs, by the way.
