Walking in Wilton with my daughter Melissa

Wednesday, January 02, 2013

I went on a walk today in my town and decided to share pictures of my town with you. This is my backyard.

This is the front of my house.

This is downtown Wilton.

This is The Wilton candy kitchen. Its one of the last old fashioned soda fountains. Its a historic site. Its in many books as a place to see. The pictures don't really do it justice. They make homemade ice cream and old fashioned soda fountain drinks.

This is Tonis treasures. My daughters and friends love to go here. They sell homemade crafts, some knitted and crochet items also scrapbooking supplies.

We also went to the newspaper office. We put out a weekly paper that covers both Wilton And Durant. Durant is a small town 5 miles East of us. They are our rivals in High School football.

I like some of the older homes in Wilton. This is one of them.

This is a old church on Main street. It recently had a fire on the part where the cross is on top of it because it was struck by lightning during a bad storm. Fortunately they were able to repair it.

This is a winter scene of Wilton.

This is a picture of me that my daughter took. Im all bundled up because its around 6 degrees here today.

More of the places we saw on our walk.

This is the Wilton Elementary School that only 2 of my children still attend.

These next pictures are in memory of a teacher who was about to retire and shortly after the school year ended and was retired died of a heart attack and a boy who died at the age of nine from brain cancer.

More scenes from our walk.

Then when I got to the post office I realized that I forgot my mail keys so I got more exercise walking home getting the keys then walking back to the post office and then back home again!

More scenes walking home.

Then we came home! Good to get out of the cold and have our dog Sunshine greet us!

Thanks for joining me on my walk!

Loved all the pictures, thanks so much for sharing. emoticon

I enjoyed your pictures! Where is Wilton in Iowa and what county is it in? My husband and I like to visit small-town Iowa and this is a place that we would like to stop to see.

Thank you so much for sharing your walk with us! It was great to see your town. There are some beautiful houses! I liked the church too. And you have a very pretty house! But my favorite picture was the one of you. You have lost weight since your profile picture! We are having a very mild weather at the moment here, so it was nice to see snow in your pictures.
