This is HARD!

Man! Getting back into my runs is HARD! I had planned to use my 5K app, but then I remembered my Galloway 10K app has a beginner mode, so I decided to do that.

I set it up for 11-min. mile pace, with a 4 min. run/1 min. walk pattern. OMG! NOT!!! My chest hurt! I had to dial it back to 12 min. pace and a 3/1 ratio. It continues for 25 minutes. So I survived it. That was Monday. Today was even harder, getting down to the treadmill to do it. But I did. I repeated the workout. My chest didn't hurt, but now my legs are getting tired so fast!

I envy my August self! But I know where she is, and I'm going to catch up to her. I absolutely refuse to lose her.

Friday is my long, slow run, 5.5 miles. Hm. We'll see!

    You'll be running down your August self before you know it. Especially if you keep being smart about the difference between pushing your limits and pushing past your limits. Good for you.

    I've slacked off quite a bit since summer too and really need to get back into it - I started the 5k Your Way a few months ago (after doing the entire Couch to 5k at the beginning of the year) and I just found my paper that shows me I stopped in the middle of week 6 just before Thanksgiving... I've been walking since then (to get steps on my fitbit) but with only sometimes adding 2 to 5 minutes of running in here and there. I wonder what week I should pick back up at? Maybe week 3 or 4 - I'll see how it feels and play it by ear.

    Good for you for getting back to a routine. I hopped on the bike today for the first time in a bit and darn, it was so hard! Keep pushing and soon you'll not only be catching up with your August self, but passing her!

    You'll find your August self before you know it. I think you're doing great by pushing through, in spite of the physical discomforts you're experiencing. You will find those legs again --- you're well on your way already. Good luck with Friday's run ....
