Review of 2012, Goals for 2013 (A&I Silver Foxes Challenge, Week 1)

Most of 2012 was the same old, same old for me. I ate what I wanted, didn't get much exercise and was in general very unhealthy. I was pushing closer and closer to 300 pounds. I couldn't walk a flight of stairs without getting winded. My blood pressure was out of control.

October 14, 2012 was the day everything changed. I didn't have a big health scare and nothing traumatic happened. I just woke up that day and thought "something has to change." I had joined SparkPeople several years ago but was a lurker at best. I would login for a few days, track calories here and there and then lose interest. All of that has changed. I try to login everyday. I track my intake and exercise religiously. I joined some groups and challenges. I was slowly finding my way.

In 2012:

I lost 48 pounds.
I joined a gym.
I went from 30 seconds on the elliptical to 45+ minutes.
I've completed one circuit of S.L.E.D.
I've dropped 3 (almost 4) pants sizes.
I can walk a flight of stairs and still be able to breathe.
I can run!
I eat more fruits and veggies.
I gave up pop completely.
I found my neck!

Goals for 2013:

Go to the gym 4-5 times per week.
Continue my weight loss.
Lose 10% of my body weight.
And then do it again.
Eat more fruits and veggies.
Become a SparkPeople motivator.
Login to SparkPeople daily.
Eat less salt!

I've learned that exercise and healthy eating isn't always fun, but it's always worth it. I've made some great friends here and I've met some people that are truly inspiring. 2012 started rough but ended great. Here's to 2013.

    Wow, you are truly a success story, showing how in one day you can change your attitude and get motivated to accomplish so many things in just a few months. I am so glad that you came back to SparkPeople and that you got involved with the teams and challenges. That makes all the difference. Congrats on all your successes! I know you will continue to lose the weight and reach the goals you set for yourself in 2013. I look forward to being on a BSG team with you in the near future, so I can get to know you better!
