Time to blow some dust off....

I could break down the past week.

I am really feeling too lazy.

A brief summary would go along the lines of two more dinners out with friends, 3 parties, a movie marathon, and very little exercise.

So far as Holiday splurges, and indulgences go it was the worst yet (and I knew it would be).
Causing a 2 pound gain.
The upshot is that is only 0.6 pound more than I was at the beginning of November.
Considering how terrified I was of what Thanksgiving, Hanukah, Christmas, and New Years was going to mean to my progress I consider it, if not a win, at least an acceptable result.

Now I need to formulate a plan to get back in the "loss" trend.
I am going to pry myself off of this plateau!

I need to buckle down on my nutrition, something I have not been controlling very well for a long time.

I also need to revamp my workout routine and step it up.
Last night I got a good start on it my doing some good high impact aerobics instead of my treadmill. I should like to try and do that at least once a week to add variety, not only to prevent boredom, but to broaden the range of movement.
I also need to fit back in some strength training and/or some Yoga. I cannot afford a class, does anyone have a good recommendation for a Yoga DVD I can follow?

    Only gaining 2 lbs after an indulgence like that is really good! When I indulge, I usually end up binging... Leading to a 5 lb gain, at least! I'll be excited to follow your progress!

    As crazy as this sounds I really like the Biggest Loser Yoga with Bob Harper. I have tried several others, but I genuinely like this one the best. If you find another you like a lot, please share!

    The holidays are a huge challenge and not gaining - or gaining little - is an acceptable compromise over being "religious" about food. In any case, never ever give up, keep on Sparking, and the issue will resolve itself. Hang in there!

    I love yoga! You might try yogadownloads.com. They have a ton of 20-min routines that are free. Then you can purchase longer workouts on a case-by-case basis when you find an instructor or a "class" that you like. I LOVE this site's stuff.

And I keep telling myself the same thing - a small gain over weeks of holiday celebrations is still a WIN. I know how to undo this and so I'm starting the year feeling capable, not ashamed. That alone is unique for me. :)

    I recommend taking a look at YouTube - millions of exercise routines with and without equipment. Good luck!

    Sounds like you have a good plan to move beyond the plateau. I'd love to find a good Yoga dvd too. Maybe the library? Another good resource may be to look at them on Amazon & read over the reviews. Have a great week mixing it up in your workouts!

    I don't know of any yoga dvds. I don't have a dvd player, so I'm stuck with traditional gym workouts, But we're in a similar spot post-holiday. I also managed to maintain over the holidays. I weighed in at 168.8 this morning... not what I was hoping for, but acceptable. I set a personal goal last month to get a 1000 fitness minutes award, and I did it. That motivated me to set that as a constant goal. Every month, I'll be aiming for 1000 fitness minutes. Somehow having that silly, little sparkpeople trophy to aim for is very motivating. If we keep making good choices, our plateaus are sure to break soon! Keep pushing!
