A man was in a gift shop and decided to buy a brass statue of a rat. The owner of the store said, “That’ll be $20 for the brass rat and $1,000 for the story behind it.”
“Thanks,” the man said, “but I’ll just take the statue for $20 and pass on the story.”
He paid and left the store. As he was walking down the street he noticed that rats gradually started following him, until there were hundreds trailing behind him. Completely unnerved, he walked down to the wharf and threw the brass rat in the water. All the real rats jumped into the water after it and drowned. He went back to the store immediately. The owner said, “You must have decided you want to hear the story!”
“No,” said the man, “I came back to see if you have any brass lawyers for sale.”
