First lesson of the New Year

My plans are not always God's plans. My plan for today was to go mall walking and visit my brother. Circumstances beyond my control came up and I was not able to go anywhere. It appears that God's plan for me today was to stay home and rest. So, I relaxed and enjoyed it!

I've discovered the Complete Jewish Study Bible online and started reading through that. It's very interesting since the direct Hebrew translation in the OT varies slightly from every other version I've read. Makes me want to get the book!

No New Year's resolutions this year. In 2012 I gave up ice cream. This was a HUGE success for me since I was addicted to it. Another HUGE problem for me is chips and dip. My roommate and I did a 40 day fast from them that ended on Christmas day. At my roommate's request we both had chips and dip one time since then, but I found that I CAN live without it. My next goal is to stop eating cookies and candy. So far I seem to do best by simply giving up one thing at a time. I'm not saying I'll never eat a chip again, what I'm saying is that I (through God's grace) have broken the almost uncontrollable NEED to eat chips. It was a comfort thing for me.
